What is Reflexology?

Reflexology has become a very popular and relaxing Holistic treatment. It involves a Therapist focusing on specific points on the feet which correspond to various points on the body. It is believed that all areas on the body can be pinpointed by a specific area of the foot. Reflexology is commonly associated with Chinese Medicine whilst its modern-day roots start in the 1930s. It is suitable for most adults but Reflexology is not appropriate for patients with certain medical conditions. A consultation with a Therapist¬† should take place before your treatment to make sure Reflexology is right for you, or a Doctors note may be required. It is believed to be particularly beneficial to pregnant women. Reflexology is believed to assist with improving circulation, a greater sense of well-being, decreasing tiredness and the removal of toxins from the body. The treatment involves focusing on the feet (and sometimes on the hands) whilst sitting down (fully clothed apart from shoes/socks) which provides a generally relaxing experience. We will shall shortly be introducing a new Therapist to the centre who practices in this area who is a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists: www.fht.org.uk Image kindly used under creative commons credit to ‘Bark’...
